Gloomhaven and Descent are two unique premium board games that come with customized and multilevel gaming offering users a video game sort of feel in the board game itself. Individuals feel more engaged in board games with the feel of various characters, cards, and their stakes. But if you're more interested in those random modes I worry it may ware out its welcome without some additional content.Despite advanced graphics and interactive games being developed in recent times, board games often have a good place in our hearts. I personally prefer Descent as it's a more classic dice chucker dungeon crawler. If your goal is replayability with a single purchase, I may consider Gloomhaven. The app will incorporate all that stuff into stuff like the delve and even the base campaign, choosing monster groups from stuff you own at random to fill certain slots instead of giving you the same thing over and over again. The other expansions include additional equipment, classes, conditions, characters, monsters, map tiles, etc. I could see the The Delve getting repetitive with only the base set since there's only so many ways to shuffle those assets and only a handful of monster groups. So it's nice they're not double dipping but you'll always pay for something. Anything in app that doesn't require the purchase of additional physical product costs something in app.

There are certain physical expansions you can purchase that will unlock additional full campaigns for no in-app cost. There is a short tutorial campaign and a full length campaign playable with just the base set. Personally I haven't bothered with either of these modes because I prefer to full story driven campaign mode.

The Trials of Frostgate is based around specific challenges and repeating them to see if you can succeed at a higher difficulty or to get a higher score. It's just a way to remix the pieces for endless dungeon crawls.
